Abstract

Not everyone has the courage to write an autobiography, because presenting the vivid reality of one’s entire life requires great patience and strength, which not all possess. Among the various literary genres that have developed in the modern era, autobiography holds a significant place. The entry of women into the field of autobiographical writing and the presentation of their lives is an important development. Women who were oppressed by a patriarchal society are now courageously presenting their lives with confidence and determination. Therefore, these autobiographies depict the real struggles, exploitation, and sufferings faced
by women in society. One such autobiography is “Anya Se Ananya” by Prabha Khetan. The problems portrayed in it are not limited to Prabha Khetan alone; rather, they represent the story of all women striving to create their own identity in society. In this work, Prabha Khetan has presented, in a very serious manner, the problems of a girl born into a Marwari family. She highlights economic independence as a means for women’s identity and liberation within society and family. The objective of this research paper is to analyse Prabha Khetan’s autobiography “Anya Se Ananya” and explore the various dimensions of women’s lives depicted in it.
